Jägala Waterfall (Jägala Juga) is the biggest natural waterfall in Estonia, being over 50 metres in width and 8 metres in height. We admit it’s not the most impressive compared to other waterfalls across the world, but even so it’s pretty in all seasons, and worth seeing especially in winter. When the temperature drops, the water mass freezes making enormous icicles, interesting ice sculptures and in REALLY cold weather the frozen water creates a tunnel between the ice and the waterfall wall.
The waterfall is located about 30 kilometres to the East of Tallinn. It’s easy to get there by car, following Narva Highway until you see the ‘Jägala Juga’ sign. Getting there by public transportation is difficult, so definitely the most convenient option is to take a taxi from Tallinn and agree the price with the driver. Our estimation is about 20-25 Euros/one-way depending on the taxi company.
