Kohvik Sesoon (Cafe Season) is a lovely restaurant/cafeteria in Tallinn Kalamaja, the well preserved district of wooden architecture. Sesoon isn’t the best restaurant in Tallinn, but we like the uniqueness: it’s located in an old renovated factory building, the interior is quite plain but cool retro items make it interesting, and it has a relaxed bohemian atmosphere. In fact, lately it has become one of the most popular lunch/brunch places among our friends. Moreover, their price-quality ratio is excellent!
Most importantly Kohvik Sesoon’s food is delicious. They use quite simple and familiar ingredients, but it’s still nothing like home cooked meals and the food presentation is beautiful. A fantastic three course meal, imported beer and cafe latte costs less than 20 euros. Now that’s what we call money well spent! This is exactly what makes Kohvik Sesoon a perfect place to have a proper lunch in addition to its interesting location. Appetizers cost 4-6€, soups 3-3.50€, main courses 6.50-10€ and desserts 2-4€. Also, they have daily lunch offers when e.g. one can get a nice bowl of soup for just 1.80€ or chicken in tomato sauce with veggies for 3.50€. The daily offers can be found on Kohvik Sesoon’s Facebook page (in Estonian).
We believe this cafe/restaurant is at its best exactly as a brunch/lunch place or a place to meet your friends with a cup of coffee and a lovely dessert, but for a dinner we’d pick another place – take a look at our restaurant recommendations for Tallinn. We’ve added Kohvik Sesoon to our recommendation list because we definitely think it’s worth visiting- it’s just perhaps a bit too ‘cold’ and factory like to spend an evening there. Of course, this depends on what you’re looking for.
We’ve heard lots of positive feedback about Kohvik Sesoon from tourists as well as locals, so give it a try if you happen to be in Kalamaja neighbourhood. In 2014 it was ranked as the 42nd best restaurant in Estonia, thus, we’re quite sure it won’t disappoint you. More information about the restaurant can be found from their website.
Also, we must praise their Sunday brunch (adults 12€, kids 6€), which includes great variety of meat, seafood and vegetarian finger foods, freshly squeezed juices, smoothies, desserts and coffee. It’s one of the best brunch places in town! Make sure you book a table in advance, because around 2pm it gets crowded. The brunch is served from 11am to 5pm.
